Intro to Personal Information Management (PIM)

By far, the most common thing that people want to keep in synchronization with a multitude of other devices is their Address Book.  Among the sync community, the following fields are considered part of PIM, or Personal Information Management, data.  You will probably recognize some, or all, of these from your address book, either on your phone, computer, or webmail.

 

 

Unfortunately, as you can see from the chart above, not all the fields match across the various types of programs and devices that you might be using in your daily life.  This means that either some of the data you want to sync may not copy over, or it may not be formatted exactly the way you expect.
