Plaxo Business Card Scanning Project Failure

For those of you not following the Plaxo Facebook FAN page, you probably did not see this posting back on December 18th:

Since I wouldn't be a good blogger and avid proponent of synchronization if I didn't want to be part of this project, of course I went to fill out the survey.

When I initially read the posting, I figured that this would probably be some kind of OCR similar to Google Goggles either for the phone or the website

Never, in my wildest dreams did I even come close to imagining, or expecting what actually happened.  I guess I should've since Plaxo *is* owned by Comcast, but still.

Just take a look at what I found in my physical mailbox today:

Yep.  That's right.  Plaxo expects me to snail-mail them any business cards that I want included in my Plaxo address book.

Sorry, but I think not.

After first hearing about the program, I would've considered taking pictures and uploading them, or even scanning them with an actual scanner, so they could be inputted through OCR.  BUT, there is absolutely no way that I am going to send them my collection of business cards through the United States Postal Service.

I cannot even believe that they actually think their customers/users would do this?  Well, maybe some of their less tech savy users would consider it, but that would only be because they don't know any better.

Plaxo, I really hate to do this, but you get an #epicfail for this implementation attempt.  Please go back to the drawing board and try again.
